NEXT AIR BIOTREAT Project Launch

Valencia | 31-10-2011

This month Pure Air Solutions started the NEXT AIR BIOTREAT project together with its partners, The University of Valencia en EXEL Composites. The project is part of the European Madame Curie 7S Framework IAPP-fellowship. One of the goals of the project is to make a suitable biological technique to purify styrene emissions, so again Pure Air Solutions can tap into a new market. According to Albert Waalkens, Technology Director of Pure Air Solutons: “The IAPP-fellowship gives the opportunity to enhance existing products and develop new ones in a faster pace” The medium-sized company makes air purification devices by means of an innovative technique, called bio trickling. This technique removes solvents from air emission from various production processes which are now emitted into the atmosphere and cause smog.

Not only the perspective of new product-market-combinations put Pure Air Solutions to respond to the 2010 IAPP-call. The intensive cooperation with the partners in itself is valuable to the company. “Thanks to the IAPP project our close cooperation with the University of Valencia is again guaranteed for a period of four years”, said Waalkens. “We worked together with the University of Valencia since 2006 and already aimed to prolong this cooperation. The IAPP project, where we can exchange researchers and staff, fits perfectly with what we were doing.” In addition it intensifies the relationship of Pure Air Solutions with Exel Composites. Waalkens: “IAPP allows to set up a pilot and test on-site the green sustainable and cost-effective technology to be developed in this project. This opens doors to new opportunities, where all of us will take a great competitive advantage.”

The NEXT AIR BIOTREAT project holds its kick-off meeting in Valencia with the three consortium partners. The event will take place on Friday 11 November.
